John Brown was born in 1931. His sculpture training began at Hornsey School of Art, and continued under Howard Bate R.A. at Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute.
He creates contemporary sculptures based on the simplified human figure, expressing emotions and relationships. These range from small maquettes (working models) to larger pieces for the home, garden or work environment. Themes very often run through a number of completed works giving a feeling of recognizable continuity to his sculpture.
The sculptures are in stone or in limited editions in traditional foundry cast materials such as bronze or in cast resin metals, such as bronze, aluminium or iron.
