Summer has flown by and we are already feeling Autumn in the air!
At the beginning of May Rosie and I flew to New York to exhibit our artists’ work at The Affordable Art Fair New York. It was a very exciting week. The Fair was held at 7W on 34th and 5th right opposite the front door of the Empire State Building. We soon became attuned to the “buzz” of this amazing city and once the crates had been unpacked and our stand (booth) had been hung we awaited the opening evening with great excitement! The Fair was as “buzzy” as the city it was in, with some amazing exhibits. We received so many compliments for the high standard and innovative works of our artists and for the actual look of the stand. Our artists did really well for our first visit back since 2002 and we came away feeling that our week away from loved ones was justified and now look forward to returning to AAF NYC next May 2011!!
This Autumn we look forward to seeing you all at Art London 7-11 October and the Affordable Art Fair 21 - 24 October. If you would like tickets for either of these art fairs please email me your details and I will be happy to send them to you by post or email.
On 11 September we celebrate 25 years of the Linda Blackstone Gallery. To mark this very special occasion we will be holding a major solo exhibition of new works by our highly talented and extremely popular still life artist Ian Mastin. The Private View and 25th Anniversary Party will take place at the beautiful Dyrham Park Country Club, Barnet, Herts (www.dyrhampark.com) on Saturday 13 November from 6 - 9pm. The stunning clubhouse is a perfect backdrop for Ian’s paintings. The exhibition will continue in the Clubhouse up to and including Saturday 20 September. After that it will transfer to my studio in Rickmansworth until the evening of 25 November. Please let me know if you would like an invitation to the opening night. The show will be open to non-members of Dyrham Park from 11am - 4pm daily during exhibition dates.
From 26 - 29 November and 3 - 6 December we will be holding our annual Open Studio weekends in Rickmansworth. There will be many Fine Art gift ideas for that very special seasonal gift.
On 9 July I travelled to the Abbaye de Florian near Toulouse in France to see the opening of a very special exhibition of the work of Ken Paine PS SPF. Ken has approximately 80 works in the private collection of an art collector and these works are on loan for exhibition in the Abbaye for six months. If you are over that way do go and treat yourself to Ken’s stunning work.
Nothing to do with Art - but I am a proud Aunt - in June 2010 my nephew Si Brodkin had his first 6 week comedy series on BBC 3 at. Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show was written by Si and he has created some really funny characters. The series was a wow of a success and Si is now on tour with the show. He recently received a call from BBC 3 offering him a second series so look out for that!!!
Enjoy the Autumn and look forward to your visits to the studio or to our stands at Art London and AAF.
Linda
