The Artists

Summertime News!

Spring has come and gone so fast and here we are in July and an English Summer at last!

STOP PRESS! PAUL VANSTONE WILL BE EXHIBITING AT THE HENLEY FESTIVAL THIS WEEK FROM 7 - 11 JULY. If you are visiting Henley for a concert be sure to seekout his amazing Iranian Marble pieces on the lawn by the River Thames - an idyllic setting for his stunning work. If you are not attending a concert why not take the family to the Henley Festival site - FOR FREE!!! - on Saturday 10 July from 11am to 2pm where you can wander through the marquees by the river enjoying all the diverse art that Henley has to offer as well as excellent restaurants and snack bars to satisfy the family or take a picnic and enjoy the atmosphere!!

At the beginning of May Rosie and I flew to New York to exhibit our artists’ work at The Affordable Art Fair New York. It was a very exciting week. The Fair was held at 7W on 34th and 5th right opposite the front door of the Empire State Building. We soon became attuned to the “buzz” of this amazing city and once the crates had been unpacked and our stand (booth) had been hung we awaited the opening evening with great excitement! The Fair was as “buzzy” as the city it was in, with some amazing exhibits. We received so many compliments for the high standard and innovative works of our artists and for the actual look of the stand. Our artists did really well for our first visit back since 2002 and we came away feeling that our week away from loved ones was justified and now look forward to returning to AAF NYC next May 2011!!

The studio will be open to clients throughout the Summer months - by appointment. Just email blackstoneart@talk21.com to arrange a visit. The mobile number cannot pick up messages if I am out of the country, which could happen from time to time during the summer.

In the Autumn we look forward to seeing you all at Art London and the Affordable Art Fair and at our major exhibition of the year to mark our 25th Anniversary (in September). This major show is a solo exhibition by our highly talented and extremely popular still life artist Ian Mastin. The show will take place from 14 November at a venue still to be confirmed!

Towards Christmas we will be holding our annual Open Studio weekends in Rickmansworth.

On 9 July I will be travelling to the Abbaye de Florian near Toulouse in France to see the opening of a very special exhibition of the work of Ken Paine PS SPF. Ken has approximately 80 works in the private collection of an art collector and these works will be on loan for exhibition in the Abbaye nearĀ  Toulouse for six months. If you are over that way do go and treat yourself to Ken’s stunning work.

Nothing to do with Art - but I am a proud Aunt - on Thursday 10 June my nephew Si Brodkin started his 6 week comedy series on BBC 3 at 10.30pm. Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show is written by Si and he has created some really funny characters. Please do give it a try!!! The last show is on Thursday 15 July and I think the whole series can be viewed on i-player!

Enjoy your Summer and look forward to your visits to the studio or to our art fair participation in the Autumn.

SPRINGTIME IN NEW YORK

As our 25th Anniversary Year progresses we must thank all those who visited Stand J12 at the Spring Affordable Art Fair in Battersea Park from 11-14 March. Over 23,000 visitors enjoyed diverse work from 120 galleries over the four days of the show. The early Spring sunshine brought the art lovers out of their winter hibernation and the extremely innovative and colourful work on exhibition was well received. We had a record breaking exhibition and our artists were all delighted that their paintings had flown off the walls, and sculpture off the floor to be taken home by our excited and happy clientele.

On 29 March the shippers arrived to collect all our art work to be shipped to the United States in readiness for the Spring edition of the Affordable Art Fair NYC which this year will be held in an exhibition space called 7W on 34th Street and 5th Avenue in New York from 6-9 May with the Private View on Wednesday 5 May. We will be on Booth B-202 with new work by Gary Benfield, Jill Berelowitz, Davy Brown, Paul Kavanagh, Mat Barber-Kennedy RI, Colin Kent RI, Ian Mastin, Bernard Sainte-Maxent, Rosa Sepple RI and Ken Paine PS SPF. If you are in New York that weekend and would like free entry tickets to this exciting Art Fair please let me know and they will be left at the door for you. For more information on the show visit www.aafnyc.com

Enjoy the Spring sunshine and look forward to seeing you very soon at Art Fairs or in my studio in Rickmansworth where you can always pop in to view new work by all my artists.

Best wishes

Linda
