Colin & Louise Hawkins
Louise & Colin Hawkins work together to produce this amazing hand blown glass. Louise trained at Goldsmiths College in London, after which she took the one year Glass Techniques and Technology course at the International Glass Centre, Brierley Hill. Colin trained in glass at Sunderland University and the Royal College of Art, London. They formed their partnership in 1998 and were awarded the Broadfield House Scholarship in 1999. Edwards and Hawkins have a fresh and innovative approach to glassmaking, whether it be special commissions, interior accessories or production runs of functional pieces. Their work is forward thinking and exciting with an emphasis on creative design and skilled craftmanship. Each piece is hand blown without the use of moulds, and made in their characteristic style, using a variety of both traditional and modern techniques.
In 2018 Louise and Colin”s “Meadow Bowl” was awarded the prestigious LAPADA Award for the BEST IN FAIR in the Ceramics and Glass Category at the Annual LAPADA Berkeley Square Fine Art & Antiques Fair. A first for Contemporary Artists to be awarded this prize! Due to a recent accident when working with molten glass, Louise has turned to her love of small Still Life Paintings in Oil on Board. In October 2024, though disappointed not to have her exquisite hand sand blasted floral pieces on our Stands at exhibitions, we were blown away by the simplicity and real beauty of her small still life paintings. Our clients were also impressed, and we sold all of her pieces that she created for us. Now in Spring 2025 Louise is starting to create her glass pieces again but we are delighted that she is continuing to create these little gems for our clients.
