Steven Outram was born in Dartford, Kent in 1953. He studied at Medway College of Art. He has exhibited in London, New York, Seattle, Bath, Cambridge and Oxford.

The Wye Valley and Royal Forest of Dean are the main inspiration behind Steven\'s beautifully executed, atmospheric landscapes. He paints in a studio near his home, working from drawn and written notes taken over the past twenty years, working in oils and occasionally in pastel.

Outram still studies the past masters whom he both loves and admires, his particular favorites being Ruisdael, Corot, Gainsborough and Sisley. Steven\'s paintings have a strong spiritual quality, and his ability to create romantic images of nature continues to amaze and intrigue, brings pleasure to many. His favorite times of day are dawn and dusk, which he portrays so skillfully - inviting the viewers eyes to become more used to the half light. The more one looks the more one sees!

Steven was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 2003. In 2003 he was a finalist in the \"Not The Turner Prize\" and in 2004 at the same exhibition he won an award for his painting \"The Climb\". In 2005 Steven was awarded two prizes at the annual exhibition or the Royal Society of British Artists - The Artist Magazine Award and the Sir William Ramsay School Award.
