Richard Baker was born in 1948. The artist studied at Portsmouth Art School, Winchester Art School and Christ\'s College, Cambridge. He has painted since his early years in Portsmouth and Southsea. Richard moved to Cambridge in the 70\'s from where he has frequently exhibited his work both locally and further afield. Solo shows have taken place in the Cambridge area since 1980.
Subjects include urban scenes, architecture, cafes, coastal and riverside scenes, portraits (including commissions), musicians, nudes and still life. He uses traditional media: water colour, pastel and oil.
Many of Richard\'s paintings have entered corporate collections, and several are owned by Cambridge colleges, as well as by individual collectors throughout the UK and several European countries, the USA, Canada, Japan and Australia.
