Martin Andrews was born in Birmingham in 1968.
He studied at West Surrey College of Art and Design where he gained a BA (hons) in Glass. He was then an assistant to Asa Brandt Glass Hytta in Sweden followed by being a glassblower and member of London Glassblowing Workshop. In 2000 he set up his own studio in the Midlands.
Martin’s work has been exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, particularly in Germany, USA and Canada. He has worked on commissions for hotels and offices, architectural projects, film and television companies, corporate awards and restoration work.
Each piece is designed, handmade and signed by Martin using the finest crystal based glass. As each item is made individually no two items are ever identical.
His inspiration comes from the natural world, particularly water and organic sea forms. He uses the qualities that the molten glass holds and its many transitional states of fluidity transparency or opacity. Martin attempts to capture a moment in time.
