John Tookey was born in 1947. He studied at the John Cass School of Art. A member of the Pastel Society, awards include The Brandler Prize, West of England Academy 1994 and the Pastel Society of Canada Award at the Pastel Society in London in 1999. The artist exhibits regularly at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, thr Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, the Royal West of England Academy and the Pastel Society. In 2008 he won the prestigious \"Buzzacott Award\" at the Pastel Society\'s annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. He has contributed to many books on art.
John works with a light touch whether in pastel oil or watercolour. His paintings capture the atmosphere of life and are painted honestly and with great observation.
