Aluminium Sculpture on Clear Resin Background - Tripdych

Jill Berelowitz was born in Johannesburg in 1955. She studied under Karen Jarozynski and Bill Ainslee from the age of 12 and majored in sculpture at Johannesburg School of Art. She ran her own sculpture and teaching studio in Durban before moving to the UK in 1987 and setting up a teaching studio in Mill Hill, London.

Jill casts in bronze, clear and bronze resin and aluminium, She works closely with her foundries to achieve her exacting finishes. Jill's distinctive style is easy on the eye, sensual and tactile and has powerful movement. Her wide subject matter both in her torsos and realistic sculptures reflect her detailed understanding of human anatomy and organic subjects. Behind the contemporary style of Jill's work, she explores life's deeper meaning and emotion.

Jill has exhibited her work in South Africa, America and England. Among other notable exhibitions in 2002 she exhibited her sculptures in the Accenture 'Through the Glass Ceiling' garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Jill has also completed many commissions including life size 'Pair Oar' rowers for Henley on Thames Housing Development and a Rugby Trophy for Investec Challenge on behalf of Investec Bank.
