Summertime

Born in Stuttgart in 1943, Christa came to England in 1964 and for several years, made collages, which started her interest in sculpture.

In 1983 she attended a sculpture course by Judy Cousins, also learning mould-making and casting in bronze resin, and joined classes at a local Adult Education Centre where she mad porcelain and terracotta figures. She then started exhibiting at various art exhibitions and in 1994 was invited to become a member of the Society of Women Artists.

During that year some of her work was shown at the Medici Gallery and in 1996 she had a solo exhibition in North London; whe then had some smaller sculpture displayed at the Chelsea Flower Show and has exhibited with the Surrey Sculpture Society, at among other places, the Royal Horticultural Society at Wisley.

Her work has been shown and sold at Harrods Picture Gallery and the Virginia Water Gallery. Her latest commission, two children on a rock, was unveiled at Eagle House Prep School in Crowthorne. All her ideas stem from her own experiences and childhood memories, but much of her work is, in concept, imaginary.
