Catherine Brennand 1961 - 2006

Catherine Brennand was born in London.

Before dedicating her artistic talents to full time painting, she worked as a technical and graphic artist in the construction industry. It was from this time that she developed her passion for architecture, and her very individual interpretations of buildings.

After winning 'The Young Painter in Water Colours' award at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours annual exhibition, in 1991, she was invited to become a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. Catherine went on to win various awards at the RI annual exhibitions in 1992, 1995 and 2000.

Catherine exhibited her work widely in the United Kingdom, and received numerous important commissions both in the UK and abroad.

Catherine Brennand passed away on Monday 1st May 2006 after a long and determined fight with Cancer. She carried on working throughout her illness and her standards did not drop despite the rigorous treatment she was receiving. She was a lovely girl and a very talented artist - and will be greatly missed.

During the month of June 2006 a room has been given over to her work exclusively, during the exhibition by invited members of the RI at the gallery.
